Rosslyn Hill Chapel, Hampstead

The architect’s brief was not to obscure the west window, this being the principle source of light for the church.

The organist, George Woodcock, consultant Richard Dunster Sigtermans and Matthew Copley found themselves in agreement as to what was required. A 30 stop tracker organ divided into two cases, with a positive section in the centre of the gallery. A French style terraced console, which allows unobscured views of singers and instrumentalists, and makes it possible for the organist to conduct from the console, mechanical action to all the chests and all modern playing aids.

The organ is based on a 'werkprizip' design with a substantial Principal 16ft on the Pedal, 8' Principal on the Great, 4' on the Swell and finally a 2' Principal on the Positive. The Swell Organ also has a set of generous strings, the Gamba blending well with other flues and foundations.
